PROCEDURE

At the first meeting the approximate size and placement of the oil painting is determined. Fred then begins an oil sketch from life. Photos are also taken at this time and are then reviewed digitally on the computer. Fred returns to his studio where he completes a compositional study. He can e-mail or return with the sketch which is often the size of the final painting. This is also a good time to discuss framing possibilities. After the preliminary sketch is approved Fred returns to his studio to complete the commission. The final painting takes from 8 to 10 months.
